Weird and Wonderful: Serial Experiments Lain

Weird and wonderful comes to mind when summarising this anime BUT i must admit i really liked it. I think it's even worthy of a rewatch and that's simply due to the complicated nature of the story. You can't turn your head away from the screen for a minute or you'll probably miss another twist in the story.

The story itself follows the life of what appears to be a normal introverted kid, Lain who isn't really too much into computers. Until a classmate commits suicide and here is when it starts getting really eerie.....she sends text messages from beyond the grave saying really out there stuff like ...i just abandoned my body!!!!! This strange turn of events leads Lain like Alice in Wonderland down the HOLE and believe me it's a LONG LONG LONG way down.

What follows is a whirlwind of events between the real world and that of cyberspace and the idea that the two worlds are merging together. The way the animation is filmed is also eerie with the sound effects and the murkiness in the scenes and the contrast of the bold colours. The trip down the rabbit hole that Lain takes makes you THINK it's definitely a thought provoking story. It makes you question your existence, the possibility of life after death, what defines your existence, communication and many many more things.

I don't like to BLAH BLAH BLAH too much about the details of what happens in each and every episode of an anime and I don't want to give you too much information....just want to give you an idea of what this one is all about. So, if you like science fiction mixed with a bit of the paranormal and a you're a little philosophical then you might want to check this anime out!!!!! Like i mentioned you may want to watch this one twice as it has a lot of twists and turns and sometimes you miss somethings. Overall, I expect mixed reactions from watching this one^___^

On top of all the above...it has a great opening and ending song and I'll leave you with the opening theme ---Duvet by BoA!!!!!

Anime of the WeeK - Hack//Legend of the Twilight

This anime is so kawaii. It even comes in 12 sweet episodes meaning you could totally finish it in one day!!!! I guess that depends on how much free time you have BUT it’s definitely do-able. The storyline is based on the 2 main characters Shugo and his twin sister Rena. The twins don’t see much of each other in real life so his adorable sister enters them into a competition to play a future online role-playing game, The World. The two meet everyday online in this game BUT they fall victim to someone’s sinister agenda. Someone is creating unstoppable monsters and when players encounter them in the game and die in the game they fall into comas in real life. The twins must figure out who is behind this horrible plot and save The World before the damage escalates. Using the legendary limited edition characters Black Rose and Kite, Shugo and Rena must defeat these monsters with the help of a mysterious twilight bracelet and the help of their friends.

I would definitely recommend this anime. The legendary characters are so cute!!!! The action and pace isn’t slow and the storyline isn’t over complicated but it is interesting. I would rate it 7/10 which means it’s worth checking out for yourself!!!!

Check out the trailer. I apologise that the trailer is in English. I prefer English subbed but for all you dubbed fans. Enjoy!!!!
