Samurai Champloo isn't what you might expect when you read the title ---Samurai. The moment you start to watch this series you'll see what I mean from the opening song and that kind of sets the tone for what follows. It mixes two totally different eras together in that break dancing, beat boxing, graffiti and other things related to the hip hop culture are being used in the era of the samurai (I guess I could've said that by using a fancy word like anachronism BUT that sounds like a scientific word to me)!!
Meet Fuu
That is what makes this anime supercool in my opinion as it kind of hits you with the non-conventional. So, the anime itself is coming up to 5 years old but don't worry about that because I'm pretty confident that you'll enjoy all 26 episodes. The storyline itself is focused around an odd bunch of people that fate brought together...hahahaa...more like a FIGHT brought together.
Meet Mugen
Fuu is a ditzy waitress who saves two totally different guys from execution after they destroy her workplace. She then asks them too join her on her search for a "samurai who smells of sunflowers"...hmmmm..... a bit sketchy right. The two guys - Mugen (Buck wild Warrior) and Jin (serious ronin) are dying to kill each other but they make a pact to fight each other after they find the sunflower smelling guy. Nevertheless, they all leave on a journey together that proves too be a very entertaining adventure and i must admit i enjoyed every single episode. The pace of this anime is great and the fighting scenes are awesome. At some point you'll think are they ever going to find this sunflower dude BUT you'll just have to watch and see.
