Kurokami The Animation - 黒神 The Animation

This anime has only recently started airing on 8 January 2009 and is currently on episode 5 out of 24. I've watched 4 episodes so far and must admit that the action sequences are pretty cool and the pace of the anime is just about right. The main characters are Keita and Kuro who is a Mototsumitamas and here is where the storyline gets a little murky at the moment.

Kuro meets Keita by chance when he buys her a bowl of Ramen and she becomes involved in an unexpected fight with some guy (she totally kicks his ass). After this we learn that Keita's mother was killed and another one of his friends is also killed in what appears to be another freak accident. But it isn't that simple NOPE because in this life there are apparently 3 identical beings sharing this life force "Tera." When someone else meets one of these lookalikes it results in the death of one of the three BUT the dead ones life force is absorbed by the others!!!! So, if two of the three DIE this results in the remaining one becoming a ROOT being possessing all the life force.

All this in 4 episodes and it gets a bit more complex as there are beings (Mototsumitamas) who must maintain the balance of Terra known as the "Coexistence Equilibrium." Kuro and Keita meet again which results in Keita's untimely death BUT in order to save his life Kuro swaps her heart with his and thus a CONTRACT is formed.
