Anime of the Week - Bleach

I totally love this anime. Watch it Now!!!! Oh isn't that enough to make you wanna watch it? I first stumbled across Bleach late 2007 as it used to come on animecentral but it wasn't in any particular order so I decided to watch it online. WhooHOOOooo.O good decision----pretty soon Bleach became the only thing I watched---I'm talking 20 episodes a day!!!!! Intense stuff right and before you knew it like in 4 weeks I had caught up with Japan and since then I've managed to keep up to speed with this anime.

It is still airing with episode 211 coming out on 17 March for all you BleachHeads (me included, can't wait)!!!!! I can hear it now....what the hell is Bleach about? Weird name? It has nothing to do with cleaning products thats for sure!!!! So I'm going to give you my personal take on what Bleach is all about.



Meet Ichigo Kurosaki 15 year old kid who seems to be pretty much introverted to his friends at school kinder depressed!!!!! Things are different with Ichigo because he has that sixth sense thing going on I SEE DEAD PEOPLE----Ichigo has the ability to see dead people and things change slightly when he touches a particular ghost he helps ( all in days work for this kid helping people dead ones and the living). Something happens that makes his spiritual energy alluring to the darker forces out there who like to feast on human souls but they kind of have a fettish for people with HIGH SPIRITUAL ENERGY !!!! That means Ichigo is a TASTY DISH for these soul munching ---HOLLOWS (that is what they're called).


His world takes an even crazier turn when he meets Rukia Kuchiki who like Ichigo can see these hollows BUT she can do more than just see them. Armed with her zanpakto (sword is shortest explanation) she is able to fight these hollows and if she is STRONG enough she will kill them. It isn't quite as easy to say that she is KILLING them because Rukia is a SOUL REAPER, DEATH GOD, SHINIGAMI who come from Soul Society into the human world to save humans from the hollows and purify these spirits with their zanpakto!!!!! Depending on whether the spirit was originally good or if they were evil before becoming a hollow determines where they go after being CUT DOWN by the sword. If they are good their spirit passes through to soul society otherwise the gates of hell come to take them away.

Ichigo's life changes when he meets Rukia because she was unable to kill the hollow who attacked him. She transfers some of her powers to Ichigo and quite franky opens Pandora's box----meaning she starts something CRAZY AMAZING TOTALLY COOL because isn't just some standard kid. Thanks to Rukia she awakens some hidden power within Ichigo but in doing so she breaks the rules of Soul Society. She has stayed in the human world too long and given powers to a HUMAN can only mean one thing for Rukia-----DEATH.

Ichigo decides this is unacceptable. He has plans to break into Soul Society and save his friend Rukia from this ridiculous death sentence. He is about to find out that Soul Society is home to some pretty incredible people. Can he do it????? Well, why don't you watch and see the story unfold. This particular storyline is a stepping stone into the amazingness of Bleach and if you like anime dealing with supernatural, action, friendship, loyalty, love, great music, awesome characters and all that JAZZ then why are you wasting time!!!
