In case you didn't know me and Imy take it in turns picking the anime of the week, which is great stuff because Imy usually introduces me to animes that i've never heard of :S. This is exactly what happened with this week's anime of the week - Ikki Tousen!!!! What an anime what an anime:)
This definitely put a smile on my face because I couldn't really take it too seriously....mainly because of all the PANTIES on display. I think it fits the HENTAI genre, so if you don't like numerous glimpses of girls panties than Ikki Tousen is not an anime you should watch.
The story itself is very simple and is supposedly based on the history of the three kingdoms period of China. Here it is ----there are 7 schools full of fighters and they must battle!!! These warriors both male and female all wear a soul stone (magatama) which contains the spirit and destinies of a warrior from history. These spirits have been reincarnated for centuries and usually the destiny is the same as that written in history. The main character in this anime is Hakafu Sonsaku whose spirit is extremely powerful but Hakafu herself is BAKA (stupid) with big breasts that just keep jiggling throughout the anime (can you take her seriously!!!).
If you don't mind the panties, the jiggling breasts and the groping...well, then Ikki Tousen is for you. It isn't the greatest anime I've ever watched but it did have it's funny moments. I won't be watching the other two seasons of this anime BUT if you like this one...the panties don't stop here....you can watch the other 26 episodes.
