Metropolis メトロポリス

I recently watched this anime and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're fond of sci fi animes than I think that you should watch this ANIME. It isn't too old as it originally aired in 2001 but the animation involved is very HIGH QUALITY but that's just my opinion.

The storyline isn't over complicated. I feel it questions the existence of robots and self consciousness and again as they all do highlights mankind's PRIMITIVE carnal ways. It is set in the future in the great city of Metropolis where strict rules regulate the co existence of humans and robots. Due to the social inequalities in Metropolis a climate of unrest is stirring with an increase in VIOLENCE.

A quick summary of this anime is that a scientist, Dr Laughton is suspected of violating human rights legislation by trading organs and the Japanese detective, Shinsaku Ban and his nephew, Kenichi travel from Japan to pursue him. Following what appears an act of rebellion a fire destroys the scientist's laboratory and leads Kenichi to the discovery of a girl with amnesia. He attempts to rescue her which allows us to penetrate the dark secrets of the city of Metropolis and why Duke Red and his adoptive son, Rock are chasing this girl. The reasons are connected to her lost identity and the struggle for power over Metropolis.
